Your service. Their future.

Join AmeriCorps at Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center and be part of a team changing lives every day! As a member, you’ll support young children, strengthen families, and grow your own skills for the future—all while earning a living stipend, education award, and valuable experience. Step up, serve your community, and shine with AmeriCorps!

Our AmeriCorps Members Provide:

Enrichment

Work directly with preschool students by assisting teachers with lessons, tutoring, and building school readiness skills. Great fit for majors in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, or Social Work.

Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy Supporters – Help students and families strengthen technology skills, from basic computer use to online learning support. Ideal for majors in Information Technology, Education, Communications, or Social Sciences.

Counseling

The Members who provide counseling services at Emmanuel are Master's level students enrolled in a local university's counseling program and receive weekly classroom instruction that focuses on child development and effective therapeutic models. The Members implement what they are learning in their service at Emmanuel by providing one-on-one therapy sessions and socio-emotional classroom support.

Speech Therapy

The Members providing speech therapy are enrolled in a Master 's-level speech pathology program. Speech Therapy Members completing their service term at Emmanuel will have met their internship requirements for graduating with a Master's degree in Speech Pathology. We currently partner with Rockhurst University's Speech and Language Therapy Department.

AmeriCorps Time Commitment at Emmanuel

At Emmanuel Family and Child Development Center, AmeriCorps members can choose between two service time slots — 300 hours or 450 hours — completed over an 8-month period. Each member dedicates 80% of their time to direct service with students and families and 20% to professional training and development. These flexible options make it easy for students and community members to serve while balancing school, work, or other commitments.

AMERICORPS PLEDGE

I will get things done for America - to make our people safer, smarter, and healthier.

I will bring Americans together to strengthen our communities.

Faced with apathy, I will take action.

Faced with conflict, I will seek common ground.

Faced with adversity, I will persevere.

I will carry this commitment with me this year and beyond.
I am an AmeriCorps member, and I will get things done.
