Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center opened in 1986 serving the urban core of Kansas City with only 15 children. Today, after two expansions and its designation as an accredited HeadStart and Pre-K Co-operative site, the early childhood development center has a new facility with the capacity to serve 370 children and the ability to provide outstanding early childcare services in a safe, loving, and educational environment for children. The new site, still located in Kansas City's urban core, opened on May 18, 2020, thanks to the support of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and principal funders AltCap, IFF, PNC Bank, Central Bank of Kansas City, and the North American Saving Bank.

With the support of private donors and foundations, the center’s Executive Director, Deborah Mann, and her team address the physical, social, and emotional needs of children in the community. The center delivers high quality early education learning, supportive wrap-around services and preparation for children to enter kindergarten with tools to succeed by empowering their families through advocacy, emergency aid, and education.
